Servicing Shipyards and Vessel Owners From Puget Sound to Dutch Harbor
PFI Marine Electric provides everything from switchboards & lighting to complete wiring services on site for the Pacific Northwest’s premier yacht builders
Seattle’s PFI Marine Electric will be teaming with long time Seattle and Dutch Harbor firm, Lunde Marine Electronics, to provide both marine electrical and electronic services in Dutch Harbor. Store and shop facilities will be shared by the two independent companies at 1158 East Point Road Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Telephone 907-581-1498
Lunde Marine Electronics remains as an independently owned electronic instrument dealer providing sales and service for major manufacturers including Simrad, Furuno, SeaTel, Raymarine, JRC, Sperry, Icom, KVH, and Skanti. Lunde Marine Electronics’ offices, shop and warehouse are located at 5415 24th Ave NW in Seattle, next door to the PFI Marine Electric shop at Pacific Fishermen’s Shipyard. Additional offices are located at 1926 Milwaukee Way, Tacoma, WA 98241.
PFI Marine Electric was recently formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Fishermen, Inc. to offer marine electrical services to the local commercial fishing vessel, tug and yacht markets. This strategic entry in to the marine electrical market maintains the critical Seattle maritime business cluster and fills the void with the recent closing of Lunde Electric’s Marine Electrical Division. The selected asset purchase of Lunde Electric’s Marine Electrical Division will return longtime customers to the original location at the Pacific Fishermen shipyard, where Olav Lunde started the Lunde marine electrical business in 1952.
Jeremy McWhirter has been named PFI Marine Electric General Manager. Working together with Pacific Fishermen’s General Manager, Doug Dixon, Pacific Fishermen shipyard and PFI Marine Electricare emerging as one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier, full-service commercial ship and yacht repair facilities. Familiar faces and longtime marine electricians on the Seattle and Dutch Harbor waterfronts joining Jeremy include the previous marine electrical crew of Lunde Electric. Current Lunde Electric customers will have a seamless transition for their work in progress with the high technical skills and manpower levels of the electricians that have served them so well in the past.
Another important element in PFI Marine Electric’s formation is the transfer of Lunde Electric’s UL certified electrical panel shop, producing custom UL certified switchboards and electrical control systems for the fishing, tug, yacht and commercial industries.
